40-min Keynotes

Walking Contradiction

Ever felt like you don’t fit in, or maybe everyone else knows something you don’t?

It’s more common that you might think, even though we are conditioned throughout our school lives, to sit down, shut up and do as we are told and be good little worker robots.  We have a strong sense of belonging and need to feel like we are part of a group to survive, but not at any cost.  If we can train ourselves to work with a certain group because the rewards of that serve us, then we can also use our brains to protect us from losing our identity altogether.

When you understand what the brain is capable of, you realise that you don’t have to fit neatly into a box all the time.  You can learn how to play the game, whilst still maintaining your own sense of identity and sanity.

Sam uses her own stories of growing up and working as an undiagnosed Neurodivergent female, and how in her 50’s she has discovered the art to being a walking contradiction by using identity compartmentalisation.

Neurodiversity at Work

Creating an inclusive culture at work isn’t as hard as it might look.  Doing a 90 min computer based module once a year doesn’t really cut it, and won’t solve some of your communication issues.

The individuals you are working with, will be the same individuals you work with after this keynote has been delivered. However, with the addition of information, myth busting, and storytelling you’ll gain a greater understanding of how neurodivergent brains might work and present themselves in the workplace.  The purpose of this keynote is not to identify individuals or diagnose anyone.  It’s to ensure that the playing field is flattened so that all types of brains can thrive at work when given the correct reasonable adjustments, accommodations and adjustments. And that starts with self-awareness, kindness and communication. So if want your employees to learn how to say what they mean, and mean what they say, this is the keynote for you.

The New Rules of Engagement TM

Are you experiencing any of the following issues: Conflict, difficult conversations, disappointing feedback, lack of self-awareness, missing deadlines, behaviour issues in the team, high attrition, high recruitment costs, low ambition, no innovation and growth?

Your team culture might need a helping hand to transform into a high performing team, who communicate effectively and are consistently loyal and productive.

In this keynote Sam walks you through the six “I”s: Integrity, Interviews, Interpretations, Inductions, Interactions, Inclusivity. Inspiring the audience to take action immediately to enhance the effectiveness of their teams.

Get Your Message Across

Have you ever received feedback about how you’re “Too much”, “You hog the conversation”. Or “You ask too many questions”? Maybe people are tuning you out because in their eyes you are over-explaining and not getting to the point quickly enough? Or perhaps you don’t notice social cues that your fascinating subject you are passionate about isn’t interesting at all to your audience?

Sam has experienced all of these things throughout her life, not knowing that she was Autistic with ADHD. It created a curious dichotomy of inconsistency that left people around her wondering why she’s all over the place. Sam share’s her experience with personal development and tips and techniques she’s picked up over the years that have helped her to refine her communication skills, organise her thoughts so that others WANT to listen to what she has to say.

After the keynote your audience will have learnt how to do this too. Speak up, speak out, speak clear!

What others say about me

Really liked that she talked from personal experience, it was so much more believable. And also liked that we weren’t expected to breakout and discuss, it was just informative, relevant and relatable

Victoria Hale

Sam is really amazing at helping Individuals and Organisations understand how to use the incredible talents of those with autism, particularly in the IT sector. She is a very relevant and enthusiastic speaker who will engage your audiences and provide huge value to your organisation.

Change

I had a meeting with Sam after recently being diagnosed with ADHD at 27, and she was excellent at making me feel validated and highlighting the positive aspects of my attitude towards my diagnosis. Being diagnosed with any neurodivergent disorder can be a scary time and can make you question a lot about what you know about yourself, but Sam was so relatable and engaging that it alleviated a lot of my worries about what is to come!

Daniel Hunter

Empathetic listener and a great communicator‘ is what comes to mind when thinking about Sam.
I’ve known Sam for over a year and it’s been my pleasure to have her as my mentor.
I’ve recently been promoted to manage a new team. Sam helped me to understand the Rules of Engagement and now I have a much clearer idea on how to best engage with my new team & how to promote open culture.
If you need someone to help you improve the culture & communication in your team/organisation, I’d recommend Sam

Michaela Kalaria

Sam is a high energy, very positive trainer who enthuses you to communicate better in simple yet powerful ways. She is very generous with her time and supports and mentors people along the way. She is a coach and a trainer, a professional speaker and has a specialism in helping autistic adults

Kim Gilmour

The workshop I enjoyed the most at the WiRE Conference in April was Sam’s, her energy, what she said made sense, and I got a lot of value out of that session.
